Student Support Services

The Student Support Services (SSS) and SSS/STEM/Health Careers programs offer the following free services to SSS/TRIO-eligible NHCC students:

  • Personalized academic advising for degree planning, career exploration, strategies for improving grades, help with the financial aid process, transfer and finding connections to resources
  • Regular weekly one-on-one sessions with professional math, science, writing, and study skills tutors
  • Workshops throughout the year such as scholarship and study abroad preparation, TEAS preparation workshop and career exploration
  • Guided tours to four-year colleges and universities, and career exploration field trips
  • Cultural events, educational tours, recognition celebrations and other original events

Eligibility Requirements

TRIO programs are federally funded through the U.S. Department of Education and provide free academic support to students who meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Low-income
  • First-generation college students (neither parent has completed a bachelor's degree)
  • Documented disability

In addition, students will be accessed for academic need.

Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. - 12 Noon
